Sports and Deep Tissue Massage

The therapy of Sports massage covers different types of massage. For many people Sports Massage refers to Deep Tissue Massage which is exactly what it says on the tin! Another type of sports massage is more specific to sports events and involves pre or post event massage, a lighter massage technique specific to generally improve relaxation and recovery surrounding a sports event.

Deep Tissue Massage - what to expect.

Deep Tissue Massage is is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct pressure or friction applied across the grain of your muscle. This invigorating experience is a process of detecting your stiff or painful areas by determining the quality and texture of your deeper layers of muscle and slowly working with firm pressure into these layers.

Deep Tissue Massage is ideal if you experience aches and pains including around the spine (particularly office workers and travellers) and is extremely good post injury. This is the best massage to maintain the health of your body as it eliminates muscle spasm which builds up with stress and strain.

This is a treatment which relieves pain- everyone is different and so are your needs. Depending on your assessment, you may need just 2 or 3 sessions and for more long standing and complex problems, you may need several treatments. Depending on the stresses you go through and once you are problem free, you should come for reviews (every month/6 months) to pick up problems early and make sure they stay away, just as you do with your dentist.
